In the prompter: Space pause / resume ↑↓ speed (auto) or back / forward a line (voice)

Recording in QuickTime: File > New Movie Recording, pick your camera and mic, and drag the QuickTime window off to the side (the prompter stops if something covers it).
Put this window right under your camera. Press record in QuickTime, then click once on the prompter so your keys go to it.
Keep the column narrow and the reading line near the top, right under your camera. Your eyes barely move and it reads as eye contact.
